Job description
We are looking for a Senior Electro-Mechanical Designer with focus on Power Electronics Cabinet Designer with a strong system‑level understanding of power electronics, electrical architecture, and 3D cabinet design for semiconductor and defense applications. This role focuses on the architectural and detailed design of power modules and power cabinets used in high‑reliability, safety‑critical environments.
The ideal candidate combines deep electrical knowledge with hands‑on cabinet and enclosure design experience, ensuring full compliance with industry standards while optimizing performance, EMC behavior, thermal management, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
Power Electronics & System Architecture
Architectural design thinking for power electronic cabinets and power modules in medium- to high-power systems, defining overall cabinet architecture including segmentation, redundancy concepts, safety zoning, and serviceability
Design power distribution schemes, protection concepts, grounding strategies, and isolation boundaries
Translate electrical schematics into optimized physical cabinet layouts
Collaborate with power electronics engineers on converter topology, power stages, auxiliary supplies, sensing, and control
Cabinet Design & Mechanical Integration
Design complete electrical cabinets and enclosures, including frames, panels, mounting plates, brackets, and covers
Integrate power electronics components such as converters, transformers, filters, reactors, busbars, contactors, breakers, and sensors
Define robust cable routing, harnessing, strain relief, and connector concepts for power, signal, and communication wiring
Coordinate and support thermal management concepts, including air cooling and liquid cooling solutions
EMC, Shielding & Grounding
Design cabinets with strong focus on EMC/EMI compliance, including noise mitigation, filtering, shielding, and segregation
Define and implement shielding concepts, bonding strategies, and enclosure interfaces
Develop and apply grounding and earthing concepts suitable for high‑power, high‑frequency, and safety‑critical systems
Work closely with system and EMC engineers to ensure compliance during design and validation phases
Standards & Compliance
Design in accordance with semiconductor and defense industry standards, as well as applicable international electrical standards
Ensure compliance with IEC, UL, CE, and relevant defense or customer‑specific requirements
Apply best practices for functional safety, reliability, and lifecycle management
Support design reviews, technical audits, risk analysis, and FMEA activities
3D Design & Electrical Documentation
Develop detailed 3D designs and assemblies using professional CAD tools, with a strong preference for Siemens NX; experience with SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or CATIA is also acceptable
Create and maintain electrical schematics using EPLAN (P8 preferred)
Produce complete documentation packages, including:
Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Cabinet layouts and assembly drawings
Cable routing and harness documentation
Bills of materials (BOMs)
Manufacturing, installation, and service documentation
Collaboration & Technical Leadership
Act as a senior technical authority in cabinet and power system design
Mentor junior engineers and designers and contribute to design guidelines and best practices
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, mechanical, system, manufacturing, quality, and test engineering
Support suppliers and manufacturing during prototyping and series production
