As Team Lead QESH, you provide direction to the further development and professionalisation of Quality, Environment, Safety & Health at Neways Leeuwarden. You lead, coach, and develop the QESH team and connect colleagues and stakeholders around quality, safety, environmental performance, and continuous improvement.

Using your subject-matter expertise, you ensure the effective set-up and continuous development of the Quality Management System (QMS) and Business Management System (BMS). You make sure processes, procedures, and work instructions meet customer requirements, certification standards, legal and regulatory obligations, and internal standards. You also represent Neways towards customers, auditors, and certification bodies and ensure audits are professionally prepared and effectively followed up.

You steer QESH KPIs, analyse performance, and guide root cause analyses and improvement initiatives. You also strengthen awareness and compliance in Environment, Health & Safety and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and embedded effectively. In this role, you combine leadership, expertise, and stakeholder management to create lasting impact across the organisation.

You report directly to the Manager Engineering & QESH.

You are a connecting and decisive QESH professional who knows how to engage people while having the expertise to provide clear direction. You communicate clearly, bring different interests together, and maintain oversight in an environment with demanding customer, certification, and regulatory requirements. You encourage ownership and a strong quality and improvement culture and are confident in taking action when quality or safety is at risk.

Additionally, you bring:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree (HBO/WO) in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related discipline;

• Relevant experience in Quality Engineering, Quality Management, QMS, or QESH;

• Experience leading, coaching, or guiding professionals is a strong advantage;

• Experience within electronics, high-tech manufacturing, EMS, or a similarly complex technical production environment;

• Experience in Customer Quality, Supplier Quality, and/or Production Quality;

• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations related to quality, environment, health, and safety;

• Extensive experience with audits, certifications, and quality management systems;

• Experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001; experience with AQAP and defence-related quality requirements is an advantage;

• Strong communication skills, influencing ability, and the capability to act as a trusted subject-matter sparring partner;

• Good command of both Dutch and English; German is an advantage.

Your team

You lead the QESH team at Neways Leeuwarden, including professionals in Supplier Quality, Production Quality, and Customer Quality. Together, you ensure that quality, compliance, safety, and continuous improvement are firmly embedded throughout the organisation. You work closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and other disciplines within Leeuwarden and across the wider Neways Group.

Your daily responsibilities include

• Leading, coaching, and developing the QESH team while encouraging ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement;

• Managing and continuously improving the Quality Management System (QMS) and Business Management System (BMS);

• Safeguarding and optimising procedures, work instructions, and processes related to quality, environment, health, and safety;

• Preparing, coordinating, and guiding internal, customer, and certification audits and ensuring effective follow-up of findings;

• Ensuring compliance with standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AQAP, customer-specific requirements, relevant legislation, and internal standards;

• Managing QESH KPIs, analysing performance, and monitoring deviations, improvement actions, and corrective and preventive measures;

• Guiding Root Cause Analyses and ensuring the implementation and effectiveness of improvement measures;

• Coordinating EHS activities including audits, incident investigations, training, and compliance activities;

• Initiating and implementing improvements in sustainability, environmental management, and waste management;

• Advising internal stakeholders on QESH policy, risks, performance, and improvement opportunities;

• Maintaining relationships with customers, suppliers, and other external stakeholders and representing Neways in complex QESH matters;

• Intervening or escalating when quality, safety, legal, regulatory, or certification requirements are at risk.

• Fulfilling the role of Local Security Officer by developing, implementing, and monitoring security policies; ensuring compliance with security requirements; advising on security risks; managing access and authorisation processes; and coordinating the emergency response organisation (BHV), Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E), and safety incident management.
